Celebrities leading the charge in sustainable fashion

It is not uncommon to see celebrities sporting extravagant outfits to major events such as the Met Gala, Cannes Film Festival, and the Oscars. These outfits are often custom-made, cost thousands of dollars, and are usually only worn once. However, in the recent year, a new trend emerged where celebrities are opting to re-wear, outfits worn before, and also wear recycled and thrifted clothes to these events.

The rise of sustainable fashion has led to a shift in consumer attitudes towards clothing, with more people opting to buy second-hand clothing or renting clothes. This trend has become increasingly common amongst celebrities in recent years, who are using their platform to promote sustainable fashion.

Take a fashion cue from the royals - repeating outfits is totally acceptable! Even with her extensive wardrobe, Kate Middleton isn't afraid to rock the same designer pieces more than once. She's a fan of re-wearing classic essentials like the royal-worthy blye Stella McCartney short-sleeve dress, and she switches up the styling with blazers, necklaces, and purses to keep things fresh. So don't hesitate to re-wear your favorite looks and get creative with how you accessorize them!

Another notable individual who has embraced sustainable fashion is Nita Ambani. She isn't afraid to wear the same outfit more than once. At the Grand Theatre at NMACC, she showed us once again that repeating and recreating her outfits is part of her style game. She wore a stunning Sabyasachi saree to the event that she had previously worn in 2017She was also recently seen repeating an outfit 2 days in a row.

One of the biggest advocates of this movement is actress, Emma Watson. Watson has been known to wear recycled clothing to red-carpet events, including the Met Gala. In 2016, she wore a Calvin Klein Gown made entirely from recycled plastic bottles to the event. She is also a champion of sustainable fashion and has worked with brands to create ethical clothing lines.

As a result of Watson's partnership, Calvin Klein created two more sustainable looks for the Met Gala, worn by Margot Robbie and Lupita Nyong'o. Robbie's dress was lined with organic Italian silk and featured zippers made from recycled materials, while Nyong'o's dress was carefully crafted by hand in the Calvin Klein New York studio.

In a surprising fashion move at the Oscars 2023, Daniel Scheinert, the director of Everything Everywhere All at Once, donned a tuxedo that was discovered in an unclaimed bag, at a thrift store that sells clothes and other goods found in lost suitcases that have not been claimed at airports. It just goes to show that you never know where you'll find your next fashion statement!

In conclusion, celebrities wearing recycled and thrifted clothing to major events is not just a passing trend. It is part of a broader movement toward sustainable fashion, and it is here to stay. As more people become aware of the environmental impact of fast fashion, the trend of sustainable fashion is only going to grow.
